How Press Releases Can Help Increase Traffic To Website

July 1st, 2009 · No Comments

Even when the Internet was still considered as just a pigment of one’s imagination and that driving traffic to websites and search engine optimizations were still tales waiting to be told, press releases had already come a long way of advertising events and products. And still now, with the advent of technology and the things that Internet has done and is doing, and the continuous development of SEO strategies to get more traffic to websites, press releases is still making a name in the on line community.

What makes press release withstand time and technological change is its nature and effective means of getting the word out. Press releases, as its name suggests, is where different media can look up for the latest buzz in events, products release or services. Thus, getting your word out through press releases assures you that whatever your website is offering will get noticed by people who make a living of advertising people – especially if they think that what you are offering is of considerable interest to the public.

How can you make use of press releases effectively to make sure that they can be helpful in getting your targeted website traffic? Usually, it follows the usual hullabaloos that the conventional press releases (“offline”) should have. Additionally, it also incorporates the basics of SEO techniques and things-to-rememeber.

First, you have to make sure that what you are doing a press release on is new. A margin of one week advance is good, but never do a press release four months late. It is like news, the fresher the better but it hould also be much better than news in the sense that it should be able to inform your targeted audience early enough to become part of your activity or patronize the product you intend to promote.

As for on line press releases, you need to make sure with what press releases submission sites you are submitting to. You have to consider the site’s visibility in search engines and if their press releases are archived. In order for you to check on this is by checking the traffic and importance that the press release site has. You can do so by scrutinizing the backward links going to the website for press releases.

Make sure that your format is good. Your press release should include the following necessary elements:
the words FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
your contact information (website, email, contact numbers, name, your title, the likes), written a line or two after the release statement
a headline written two lines after the contact information and should be written in boldface
a dateline that includes the city date when your press release is issued and when it was mailed to be released
a lead paragraph that acts like a byline and gives the readers the information of the who, what, where, when and why
the body of the press release where you discuss all of the other questions that were not answered in the lead paragraph
and a recap – this should be placed at the lower left corner of the last page and should include the basic and necessary information about the product and when the product will be released

And, one of the most important things that your press release should possess is that it should be optimized. It should include keyword-centered words without sounding faked so that you do not have to pay extra for the advertising. The optimization will be the one to take care of distributing and advertising the press release for you.
